Nestled in the SODO District of Seattle is the proposal for the Seattle SuperSonics new home. The 882,000 SF facility pays homage to the cities industrial airline history be recalling the turbine and sonic rings as major design features to the main event action. The 18,000 patron seating bowl provides standing room upper bowl party decks, clean bowl geometry maximizing seat count while minimizing vomitory bowl interruptions, corner board video displays, and unique premium ticket products. The exterior facade promotes open views to the greater Seattle area with open concourses and natural light mitigated by exterior fins, which respond directly to the solar orientation of the site. The building’s main entrance aligns to Occidental Ave., promoting anew connection to the iconic and existing, professional venues to its West. The front plaza brings new outdoor opportunities for community interaction as well as a face to the integrated player’s practice facility.
